Here are some of the films I have created! Each includes a little description of the film and some thoughts I had while making it. Feel free to take a look! For other, smaller projects I have worked on, feel free to visit my YouTube channel under the About Me section.
Written, Directed, Filmed, and Edited by Adam. I absolutely love how this film turned out. Still struggled with lighting and sound, however, the final project is still good! First time using actors that weren't just easily available to me. I love the direction I am going and hope to keep it up.
Written, Directed, Filmed, and Edited by Adam. This is definitely my favorite piece I have made to date. I'm very proud of it as a whole, as there are only a few minor details I would change. It's another piece I could see being remade with a higher budget later, mainly just with professional actors who look more like what I imagined with a more elaborate set. But for where I am right now, I think I nailed what I was going for. Selected for the Student World International Film Festival.
Written, Directed, Filmed, and Edited by Adam. A project for my Film, Video, and Interactive Foundations class at Temple University. I wish I could have made it longer, but we were only allowed a max of two pages. There were also some lines that we missed when recording that I think would have added a lot to the film. First film in a bit though, and I am excited to get back to creating.
Written, Directed, Filmed, Acted, and Edited by Adam. This is a short film about being transgender, a very vulnerable topic for me. I tried to capture some feelings and emotions I felt during my own transition, particularly about my own appearance. For a lot of trans people, hair is a huge part of our identity, and often can be a major change in transition. I wanted to take that idea and condense it into something that people could easily understand. I shot this in one take as I only had one wig. I am happy with how it turned out, and hope you enjoy it! Nominated and quarter-finalist at the Student World International Film Festival for Best Super Short Film.
Written, Directed, Filmed, and Edited by Adam. This film touches on the idea of Dramaturgy created by Gotthold Ephraim Lessing. Dramaturgy is the idea that the way we act in society is comparable to how actors act on a stage. I wanted to take that idea and show the way people often act is merely a "performance." Sometimes, we put on a smile when we're sad, and that's what people expect and applaud, cause our real feelings are much less pleasant. I am quite happy with how this turned out but did run into some timing issues while making it. I would love to remake this project on a bigger scale. I love the idea of it. Selected to be shown at the Crown Wood International Film Festival, the White Unicorn International Film Festival, and Student World International Film Festival.
Written, Directed, and Edited by Adam. This was a fun little film I made with the hopes of making a few people laugh. I think it shows the goofier side of me and the type of humor I really like. Comedy hasn't really been something I wrote about, despite doing a lot of improv comedy in high school. I had the actors riff a good bit during the montage scene, but I gave them base dialogue to have an idea of what I was looking for. It was so much fun working with the actors and hearing them improv some of the funniest lines I had ever heard! This project was definitely a blast, and I would love to work on comedy again. Awarded for best film by at both the Crown Wood International Film Festival and the White Unicorn International Film Festival.
Co-written and Directed by Adam. This one-minute film was a challenge as it could only be one shot. I will admit, when writing this, we certainly didn't make it easy by having so much movement, but I think it adds a lot of depth, and I am super proud of how it came out. Some of it is a bit janky because it was hard to keep the camera steady since we were rushing to get to certain places in time with the actors, but I kind of like it. I think it makes it a little uneasy. Though it took a million takes to get it right, I'm still happy with how it turned out and really enjoyed the challenge.
Written, Directed, Filmed, and Edited by Adam. This was really my first attempt at filmmaking. At least, it was the first time I sat down and wrote a script, planned a shot list, called up actors and all of that. Originally, the film ended around the halfway point, but I knew it was missing something, so I added the last part after realizing my grandparents basement was creepy and would be a great place to film something like this. I enjoyed filming this, but it's not my favorite piece. I learned a lot while making it though, especially about plot structure and bringing a close to stories in some way.
Written, Directed, Filmed, and Edited by Adam. This was a short play I wrote for a drama company production during my senior year. I'm rather proud of the story and of my actors. It was a lot more work with rehearsals and all that, but I enjoyed really getting to know everyone.
